Glitches and Graphic Problems

  • Dec. 24th, 2009 at 8:30 AM
Okay, so I very recently got a new computer. It's got 2.0 GB of RAM, a ton of Hard Disk space, Windows 7, and I don't know what my video cards are because I can't find them. All I know is that I can put the game up on all the high settings and it runs fine; it even loads within minutes, despite my custom content load.

I've got all the expansion packs except about three or four (this is including stuff packs), and Double Deluxe for a base game. I don't know if Double Deluxe is the problem here, or if it was the fact that I had to direct download Seasons from the EAgames website, but I went to play my game and noticed some things were . . . off. I was picking out a bed, and the ones that weren't custom content (although those were funny too), the images of them in the buy mode catalog were weird. Like, some of them were missing sheets and some of them the entire picture. I didn't think much of it, until a little later, the entire ground of my lot turned into this weird green, yellow, and orange splattering. I adjusted the cam and it went away. Then, just about all the road in the whole neighborhood that I could see was suddenly covered with very large tiles of Concrete. That's where I stopped playing.

I know Double Deluxe is very glitchy, if the section of this group is anything to go by. But I also thought it could have been my internet download of Seasons, so I uninstalled down through Seasons and will be reinstalling today. My question is, /could/ it really be Double Deluxe causing me a hard time? Or Windows 7? Or some kind of rogue custom content thing? Or Seasons? I've never had any problems with either the last two before; this is my first time using Double Deluxe, and Windows 7.

My next problem is that my game doesn't have the option to smooth edges, and this is really bothering me, because the edges of everything is really hacked up and so it disturbs my game play, because it looks just terrible. I tried setting all settings to the lowest it could go, but it didn't change it so I could smooth edges.

My last problem is screen resolution. I have an eighteen inch monitor, and when I go to play the game, everything's squished down a little so the people look like midgets in pictures and the game taskbar is squished down. The game itself is not squished, just the pictures. What screen resolution can I set onto my computer, that will make it so when I go and play my game, it'll be normal looking?

Thanks so much for any help.
About two months ago I had to wipe my computer completely, meaning I obviously had to reinstall the sims and all my custom content.
Most everything is well and dandy, but I'm fairly certain I have a corrupt skin, and I have no idea how you'd go about fixing such a thing.

I use Pooklet's Compulsion skin blends as defaults, and have since around the time that they were released, and they just recently started acting up (after my reinstall)

Every time I would age up a male into elderhood my game would crash, the skin worked fine on every other age group, just hates the elder male.

Steps I've already been through:
deleting and redownloading said skin (S1 compulsion blend)
taking out all my other elder CC in case it was a piece of clothing triggering the crash

For right now I've deleted the S1 and replaced it with a different default, but I'd really like to use my old default again, I miss it.
I'm also pretty sure I've read about someone with a problem with this particular skin, but my google-fu is weak.

If anyone knows how you'd go about fixing a corrupt skin, I'd be more than happy to poke around at it.

Okay, so I have this problem. After getting my game to work and all that (now I don't have to use the CD to play, thankfully so it won't tear up now), I go to play the game. I get half-way into playing a household and the next thing I know, I get this pop-up saying to run Check Disc because of these two neighborhoods, previously made yet deleted from the game. I go to delete the N004 and N005 from my Sims 2 Neighborhood folder, but it won't let me delete it.

Does anyone know where the Check Disc is (I searched in the search place on my computer but didn't find it -- I might not have the right name for it -- I could start up my game and capture a picture of what it says and post a link to said picture) or know what I can do? I had problems deleting the neighborhoods before... so, I would uninstall my games and reinstall them to see if that would work but this is the first time I got the pop-up telling me to run Disc Check/Check Disc.

So I seem to have a glitch. I searched for it around here and on Google but I didn't find anything exactly like mine. For some strange reason my sims just turn invisible. I can see the plumbob floating and walking around as the sim does things but I cannot click the sim itself, though I can click the thumbnail and I can still tell the sim to do things.
Changing clothes or appearance does not fix it. It seems only aging the sim up/down fixes it. But it's happened twice so I "fixed" it and came here because it was legit freaking me out. This has happened to 2 sims in my legacy and it's very recent, it never happened before gen 5.

Has this happened to anybody here before? Is my neighborhood going to explode? Do I need to make preparations and start backing up all of my legacy sims?

Also my sims keep "jumping" over and over if they aren't occupied. Like they have to do something at all times, if they just stand there doing nothing they starting jumping. If one "jumping sim" dies another one will start to do it almost as if my game is making sure two sims in that home keep having that error at all times. This error has been going on since gen 2.

Here are two logs from the jump errors of two different sims in the same home.

Is there anything that'll let me change a Sim's skin tone in game? I don't even want to add a custom skin, just turn him from S2 to S3 because I made a mistake by not making him S3 to begin with.

The Sim Blender won't do it.

New Legacy

I've decided to take a second crack at legacies, since I now have all of the EPs and SPs. =D

Once again, I'm putting the first companion to a vote. I've made it so they all are attracted to the head of the legacy, and vice-versa, but once one is chosen, I'll cheat make the attraction more specific.

So, I just reinstalled TS2 again this evening. It was fine for a while, until my screen started going all "crackly", I guess I could put it. I included a picture.

WCIF... [Solved.]

  • Dec. 22nd, 2009 at 5:34 PM
Okay, so I've searched and searched through 'the where can I find...?' and so far, I haven't seen what I'm looking for. If it's there, and I've over looked it or just didn't find what (lots of pages I went through yet nothing, sorta gave up to ask) I was looking for, I'm sorry for posting. Anyways...

In the past, I saw a few different cropped pictures (more or less, part) of a screen where you can load up your Sims games without using the actual CD to play. Does anyone know where I can find this at? Recently, my CD player on my computer randomly up and acted weird, breaking a CD into many, many pieces. And I would like to download it/get it so as to not take the chance of this happening to my Sims 2 Seasons disc. I want to be able to use it to play my Sims 2 Seasons game until I can get it fixed/get a different computer/exchange CD drives.

I have Sims 2 (Base Game) + Sims 2 Open For Business (EP) + Sims 2 Seasons (EP). Does anyone know what I am attempting to describe/know where I can find what I was attempting to describe at?

Thanks in advance.

The Prism Legacy Generation 6.0

  • Dec. 22nd, 2009 at 1:36 AM

My classes are done for the term, so I can catch up on all of the things I've had to reluctantly put off. This includes playing Sims 2. I'm about halfway through this generation, I think, and I fully plan on getting through Gen. 7 before classes resume in January. Yes, all I plan on doing over my break is playing Sims and doing crafts. It will be mind-numbingly wonderful, and I will enjoy every bit of it.

Harder skilling and TV problems

  • Dec. 21st, 2009 at 10:27 PM
Two questions: Is there a harder skilling mod? I swear I used to have one, but I don't have it anymore and now I can't find it anywhere. My Sims skill up so fast and I would like something to make them go slower. If I send them to college, by the time they graduate, come home, get married, have kids, they're only halfway through adulthood and they're all maxed out. It's pretty annoying.

I know there is a harder jobs mod, but that's not what I want. I just want a harder skills mod, if one exists.

The other question is, sometimes I will have a Sim go watch TV, and a few Sim minutes later try to have someone join to watch TV, but the only options that show up are Turn Off and Work Out. I'm not sure if Watch Movie comes up, it probably does, I think when I was playing earlier my Sim was watching a movie when this happened. But I've had the issue happen when a Sim was just watching TV and not a movie.

I don't have any CC TVs or TV mods so I don't know why it's doing this. My game is completely patched and I have all the EPs.

I have had this problem in the past, but I just ignored it. It goes away, but comes back. Then it'll go away again. So I have no idea why it does this. I asked for help elsewhere before about this problem, but it never got resolved. And it comes up quite randomly so it's not like my Sim is doing the same thing every time to make the "join" not work. One Sim night it will work, and then the next it doesn't. Then when I play my game again later, it works again. Sometimes I just buy a new TV and it works.

Not sure what else to tag this entry, so I hope that's enough.

Edit: Another question (sorry!) I've tried to use the Compressorizer before, but it doesn't compress any of my files. I'm sure they're not all compressed already, but not a single one compresses. I do have Vista, and I thought I read somewhere that it doesn't work on Vista. Is this the case?

The Bradshaw Legacy: 5.6

Last time Connor and Jessi grew up to teens. They also went downtown to spend some time together. It didn't go as planned though. Jessi met Marla, and was turned into a witch of the dark. Then it was time for all the kids to go to college.

swimming nude?

  • Dec. 21st, 2009 at 2:15 PM
you'd think more people would be interested in letting their sims skinny dip but maybe i'm the only one. the only thing i've been able to come across so far is lucas's skinny dip pool ladder, but i'm more interested in just nude bathing suits for all ages. anyone have any ideas?
